Tuesday, August 19th, 2014, Morgan County Drug Task Force Agents executed a search warrant at 34 Cardinal Rd., Hartselle. Agents received a tip that subjects were cooking methamphetamine at the residence. Agents conducted a week long investigation and developed William Chad Lones, 35, and Amanda Leann Erwin, 31, both of Huntsville as suspects. Agents discovered that Erwin was convicted of Unlawful Manufacturing a Controlled Substance back in July. Both Lones and Erwin were buying cold medicine containing pseudoephedrine as often as they could. Agents executed the search warrant and discovered Erwin in a back bedroom of the residence. Agents also had followed Lones from the residence and conducted a traffic stop on him. The agents that executed the search warrant discovered a one-pot meth lab in the bathroom and a burnt meth lab under the bed that Erwin was laying on. Lones was brought back to the residence after agents discovered the labs. Agents continued the search and discovered lye, salt, Coleman Fuel, cut open lithium batteries, HCL gas generator, baggies that contained meth residue, and coffee filters. Agents also discovered multiple syringes scattered throughout the residence. Agents placed Mr. Lones and Ms. Erwin under arrest for Unlawful Manufacturing a Controlled Substance 1st and Unlawful Possession of Felony Drug Paraphernalia. Somerville VFD was called to decontaminate the subjects. As Ms. Erwin was being taken to the decontamination area she took off running. Deputies chased her through several yards and across the road where she had to be tased and brought under control. Ms. Erwin was then charged with Escape 3rd, another felony. Judge Howell set Mr. Lones’ bonds at $252,500.00. Ms. Erwin’s bonds were set at $302,500.00. Both remain in the Morgan County Jail.
