Tuesday, January 21, 2014 INCORRUPTIBILITY May integrity and honesty protect me, for I put my hope in you. Psalm 25:21 Integrity means incorruptibility – cannot be corrupted. You can count on a person of integrity – they will not let you down. Honesty means fairness, straightforwardness of conduct and sincerity. An honest person is fair and straightforward. An honest person will not deceive you. Honest people are trustworthy. Does integrity and honesty get a person into high places? Not necessarily. Many of the world leaders are corrupt and deceitful. Unfortunately, it was probably corruption and deceit that got them into their high position. The world’s standards are much different than God’s standards. David says in this scripture that he is a man of integrity and honesty. He wants his honesty and integrity to protect him because his hope is in the Lord. His hope is not in the world or in men. If he hoped in the world, honesty and integrity would not be necessary. But David says that he puts his hope in the Lord. Hope means to expect with confidence; to desire with expectation of obtainment. Hope is not blind. It has a solid base. When we follow the directions for operating an appliance, we expect it to work (hope) and it probably will. If we follow the directions on a recipe, we hope the meal will taste good and it probably will because we have followed the directions. When we follow God’s directions and commands we can put our hope in Him because He is true to his word. Put your hope in God and expect great things from Him. You will not be disappointed.
