Tuesday Report of a Misleading Maxi It has become necessary again to correct Maxi Odera so called Tuesday Report on the continuous misleading information maliciously poured out on the social media calculated to score cheap political points against the person and office of His Excellency, Gov. Obiano. His Excellency Gov Willie Obiano has chosen diplomacy and dialogue to discuss with all segments of ndi Anambra State including all the trade unions and landlord associations His meeting with the Market Union was in respect of IGR matter. We all know that majority of the states IGR not just in Anambra State comes from Markets and Parks. Gov Obiano is determined to increase the state IGR derive and has held several meetings with Trade Unions in this respect. Before he took office as Executive Governor, it has been the practice in the state that unions collect money meant for the state and pocket over 80% of it and pays whatever they wish to the state. Gov Obiano has stopped it by directing that all state money should be paid directly to the state IGR account and the use of agents stopped who feed fat on the common wealth of Anambra State. This bold step and measures has not gone down well with some people, so malicious sponsored stories and write up are what has become the order of the day. It may interest ndi Anambra to know that some lawyers have been recruited by some of these powerful unions and some corporate bodies in the state to go to court against the state. In the areas of sanitation levies, they are telling their members not to pay sanitation levies. Aswama (Anambra State Waste Management Agency) is in court against some of the corporate bodies engineered by some of our lawyers. Gov Obiano is closing down some of the tax loopholes and ndi Anambra should encourage him for preferring dialogue to resolve the fat cat feed on state funds through organised union leadership. Over the coming weeks and months, he would continue such dialogue and would use force as the last option. This is not a govt of Ghana must go bags and if that was what was obtainable before, ---- Maxi Odera and Co, Gov Obiano does not operate in that fashion. With due respect, ex Gov. Peter Obi joining PDP cannot be the subject of a meeting with the Market Leaders b/c everyone knew the story. It is a joke to say that Gov Obiano closed the markets in Anambra State which again was a tissue of lies as nothing of that sort took place. At this juncture, may I remind ndi Anambra that the Market Leaders agreed with the Ministry Of Environment that they would set aside a certain day of the week to close their shops for some hours to enable them embark on morning clean up aside from the monthly sanitation exercise. In your so called report, you alleged that #13billion naira was the yearly allocation of security vote that Gov Obiano is using to share to the traders. I am happy that some smart guy has done the math and came up with what he believe the previous administration received and “pocketed”. If sharing of security votes was practiced by the last administration, ndi Anambra has seen and are witnessing the effective use of security vote by Gov Obiano within the last 6 months. They are the true judge of his style of governance and not online blackmailers. There are no abandon road projects in the state, and it has all been in the spirit of continuity. May I refresh ndi Anambra that the Awka Express Road now under construction inherited from Gov Obi administration? That road was billed for 2 lanes on both sides, Gov. Obiano is now increasing it to three lanes on both sides with additional 3 flyovers---did I hear you say thank you my Governor. We are now seeing the increase activities in that sector with the winding down of the rains. It is a good practice to always seek clarification before your so call Tuesday Report which is fast becoming a comic relief than a serious inquest even if writing from the opposition table.
