Tuesday, September 10, 2013 Sergei Brylin named Albany Devils assisant coach The Devils announced today that three-time Stanley Cup winner Sergei Brylin has joined the staff of their AHL team in Albany as an assistant coach. Rick Kowalsky is back for his fourth season as head coach in Albany. Assistant coach Tommy Albelin is also back for his fourth season in Albany after three seasons as an assistant coach in New Jersey. Dave Caruso returns for his second season as the goaltending coach for the AHL team. Brylin spent a lot of time last season with Albany as a special assignment coach for the Devils. He is one of five players to play on all three of the Devils’ Stanley Cup winning teams along with Martin Brodeur, Scott Stevens, Scott Niedermayer and Ken Daneyko. The 39-year-old Moscow native retired as an active player after spending the 2011-12 season with Novokuznetsk of the Kontinental Hockey League. Brylin played one season for Novokuznetsk after playing three seasons for SKA St. Petersburg in the KHL. The Devils selected Brylin in the second round, 42nd overall, of the 1992 NHL Entry Draft. He spent his entire 13-year NHL career with the Devils, putting up 129 goals and 179 assists in 765 regular season games.
