Tuesday, September 30, 2014TITLE :HAND IN YOUR HEART. TEXT:“My son, give me thine heart, and let thine eyes observe my ways.” (Proverbs 23:26) Henry Rider Haggard, in his book, Montezuma’s Daughter, described the dreadful human sacrifice of the people of Anahuac in the pre-Columbia civilisation. Their gods, Hu Itzel and Quetzel demanded the offering of the human heart on each of their annual eighteen festivities. On the day of sacrifice, amidst great noise of music and chanting, the victim was spread on the stone of sacrifice, held by five priests with the breast upwards. Then the chief priest, using a curved knife of flint-like glass slashed open the victim’s breast with a single blow, extracted the heart which was placed on a golden bowl and offered to the gods. In our text, God makes a demand for the heart of his worshippers. But the heart He is requesting for is spiritual and not physical. While the victims of the gods of the Anahuac are offered against their will, God demands a voluntary surrender of your heart. If you must be a true child of God, give your heart to Jesus today. Challenge: God demands your heart Prayer:Here’s my heart, Lord, take and seal it for your service. Further Reading:Romans 12:1-3 Quotation:Give your heart to Jesus
