#Turkey #Antalya #PhaselisAncientCity #DreamOfPhaseliseHayır #SayNoDreamOfPhaselis ‘’Dream of Phaselis’’:Fettah Tamince the owner of ‘’Rixos Hotels’’ intended to build a new hotel.The name of the project is ‘’Dream of Phaselis’’ and it will be build on an area (180.009 square meters) the Ancient City of Phaselis.Ministry of Forest and Water Management delivered the land to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.At 2008 Ministry of Tourism gave the ‘’rights of use’’ of the land to ‘’Ares Fasilis’’(the company of construction and tourism) for 49 years.The Ministry of Environment and Urban allowed for the construction of the new hotel without the report of ‘’Environmental Impact Assesment’’.In one hand the problem is the construction will be in the borders of Natural Park of Beydağları-Olympos ,in the other hand a part of the area(18.626 square meters) is in the ‘’Archeologic and Historical Preservation Area of Pirority 1.The authorities let for the constructon under the condition of ‘’keeping off the area priority 1 but not exclude the area from the project officially or reject it. Another authority,the ‘’ Preservation Assembly of Cultural Assets’’ reported that they researched the surface of the land and they didn’t find ruins or anything which has archaeologic importance.But when contacted the academics of archeology who worked on the area we learned that the Castle of Antalya was reconstructed with the stones taken from the ruins of Phaselis area.Professor Sencer Şahin reported that ‘’they don’t find antic the roads reaches the city yet and the map of ‘’Tabula Peutingeriana’’ shows two large ‘’Mansio’’(a kind of ancient hotel) which are probably still under the surface of the land.Because of this the authorities should not allow for the construction.
