Turning Policemen Into Soldiers It was four days before anyone in government had anything to say about what was obvious to the rest of the world, that the police departments of several counties had morphed into battle ready troops, and were deployed against American citizenry in a small town in a heretofore unknown area of America. The murder of a young man, a black man, Mr. Brown by one of these officers, was used as an opportunity to deploy these troops to gauge public reaction and determine whether this kind of excessive force could be assimilated and become the norm, at this point in time. This has steadily been occurring throughout America, creeping into our daily lives, so much so, that in major cities we now see them, and even bump into them, as I did recently in Penn Station NY, on my way to work, a large fully combat ready soldier, but referred to as a police officer, with a machine gun, along with several of his buddies, all scanning thousands of commuters, too busy to be concerned, as they hurry to their servitude at the hands of the .01%ters. Our Democracy is effectively dead; we are now at its wake, while impatiently waiting, is the Plutocracy, waiting to bury it deep and get on with the business of our subjugation. - Mel Farrell (New York Times reader)
