Twas the night before dumping day And all thru the Port The fisherman were restin Waitin to get to the wharf; But the byes were all restless layin in bed While visions of lobsters Danced in their heads; The traps were all fixed The headings all mended The bait bags all filled And The lines all tended; The boats were loaded And ready to go With hopes that the North wind Soon wouldnt blow; About five in the morning I heard such a clatter I sprung from my bed To see what was the matter; It was the roar of the trucks All wizzin by To get to the wharf Before the next guy; So I went on down to see the byes off And with a big sigh I stood on the wharf Cheerin and wavin goodbye; I heard them exclaim As they steamed out of sight I hope the lobsters Crawl in my trap tonight; The misses went home And kept busy around In hopes that the byes Would return safe and sound.
