Two Maori language revitalization experts, Erana Brewerton and Ruakere Hond just arrived in Japan to lead language revitalization workshops for Ainu communities in Tokyo, Nibutani, and Akan for two weeks. The focus will be on developing an Ainu-approach to language teaching based in Ainu culture, traditions, and values. The Aynu Itak Revitalization Society, an independent initiative born out of the Ainu-Maori exchange in Aotearoa (NZ) last year, is receiving funding sponsorship from LUSH to invite these two revered experts to Japan.
