Two Positions: Project Associate Research, Layout, and Design Associate Position Descriptions: The LGBT Freedom & Asylum Network (LGBT-FAN) seeks candidates to fill the positions of Project Associate and Research, Layout, and Design (RLD) Associate. Both of these individuals will work as part of the core team charged with writing and publishing the Best Practices Manual for Working with LGBT Asylum Seekers in the U.S. This manual is being produced by LGBT-FAN in partnership with the National LGBTQ Task Force. The Project Associate will work primarily with the Coordinator to: · Gather input for the publication: Arrange monthly conference calls involving groups and individuals who will provide information for the publication; facilitate the calls; take and distribute notes from those meetings · Manage project finances · Draft the publication using information from team members · Review Committee: Assemble the committee; help members to provide feedback on the draft; integrate their information into the revised draft. The Research, Layout, and Design (RLD) Associate will work primarily with the RLD Leader to: · Collect information for the manual from written, internet, and other sources · Provide input on publication drafts · Participate in Review Committee discussions · Lay out, design, and release the publication Both of these individuals will: · Work from their own locations (for example, out of their homes) · Receive a stipend of $750.00 for their work. No other compensation or benefits will be provided. · Be required to dedicate an average of approximately four hours per week to this work between January and June 2015. Work schedules will be determined through conversation among the core project team. Qualifications: LGBT asylum seekers and asylees are especially encouraged to apply Required qualifications for both positions: · Legal authorization to work (earn income) in the U.S. · Demonstrated commitment to helping LGBT asylum seekers adjust to life in the U.S. · Extensive knowledge of LGBT asylum seekers in the U.S. · Access to a computer, the internet, and a telephone · Ability to work in Microsoft Word · Fluency in the English language Desired qualifications for the Project Associate: · Experience in planning and following up on meetings and conference calls · Strong writing skills · Experience with financial management Desired qualifications for the RLD Associate: · Experience in lay out and design · Strong research skills · Strong writing skills To Apply: Send the following materials to Max Niedzwiecki, Coordinator, LGBT-FAN at [email protected]: ·A cover letter explaining: o Which position you are applying for, or if you would consider either position o Why you are interested in the position/s o Your qualifications for the position/s A resume outlining your work and/or volunteer experience
