Two days ago, in a move by MB Khalid to protect himself, Khalid has ordered the state audit department to conduct a comprehensive audit of the state assembly, its coordinator office and the office of Selangor’s Members of Parliament (MP) to monitor the usage of funds since 2008 allocated for welfare programmes under Merakyatkan Ekonomi Selangor (MES). He added it was to also monitor the allocated funds to reduce the risk of leakages and ensure that the assistance provided was received by eligible recipients. Khalid said the audit results would then be sent to the State Integrity Action Council to come up with solutions for weaknesses. The timing of the comprehensive Audit is strange as it is the Ramadan month and it is believed that Khalid has asked for the Audit to be urgently done. This audit will likely show up the misappropriation and corruption by the various Pakatan ADUNs and MPs in Selangor and he will either use this information as leverage to stay in power or expose these wrong-doings if he was forcibly removed from power. This could even impact the Selangor Economic adviser as the Anugerah Tuhan, despite only receiving RM1 per year salary he is rumored to have used many millions more in allowances and claims. You can now see the urgency why Pakatan is rushing to remove Khalid in Aug/Sept so that the audit is not completed or when it is completed, the report is then hushed up. Its a race against time for both sides now and it would be interesting to see who wins and who loses.
