Two former hostages whose cases attracted worldwide attention have added their voices to a campaign for the release of Australian journalist Peter Greste and two of his Al Jazeera colleagues. Former peace envoy Terry Waite - who was held in Lebanon for almost five years - and Alan Johnston, a BBC correspondent held in Gaza for four months, backed calls for their release. The three Al Jazeera journalists have been imprisoned since last December, charged with spreading false news and supporting the blacklisted Muslim Brotherhood. Their trial began on February 20, and the defendants are expected to hear the verdicts in their case on Monday.
