Two killed, five injured in Enugu gun battle Category: NewsPublished on Thursday, 22 August 2013 19:08Written by Tony Adibe, EnuguHits: 2360 View Comments Two persons were killed while five others were seriously injuredthis evening in an alleged sporadicshooting at a market which caused commotion at Ogwuagor, Abakpa Nike in Enugu East Local Government Area of the state. The State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Ebere Amaraizu, who confirmed the incident, said at least four persons have been arrested by the police in connection with the shooting. The main cause of the gun battle by unknown menwas yet to be ascertained as at press time. However, it was learnt that a vigilante group in the area held an election which raised so much dust some days back. Amaraizu said those arrested are Peter Nwankwo,Udeh Chimezie,Osita Onyia and one ChiefFrank Eze. He said the remains of the diseased, Sunday Eze and Nebechi Mba have been deposited at the mortuary of the National Orthopaedic Hospital, Enugu while the injured, Uwadiegwu Onyegwu, Anayo Ifeji, Ani Basil, Hycienth Ugwu and Ozioma Ezekwem are also receiving treatment in an un-named nearby hospital. The PPRO said investigations into the incident havecommenced in full scale to ascertain the root causeof the incident while those arrested are now helping the police in their investigation.
