Two lawyers seeking vacant Senate seat (The Morehead News) W. Kelly Caudill, an attorney from Maysville, and Stephen A. West, an attorney from Paris, were nominated Saturday as candidates for a vacant seat in the Kentucky Senate. Democratic county committee members from the eight counties in the 27th Senatorial District met in Morehead and picked Caudill from among four nominees. Republican leaders met in Flemingsburg and selected West from two candidates. At stake in the March 3 special election are the remaining two years in the unexpired term of former Sen. Walter Blevins who resigned to become Rowan County judge-executive. Caudill is a partner in the Maysville law firm of Royse, Zweigart, Kirk, Brammer and Caudill. West has his own law office in Paris. The 27th District includes Rowan, Mason, Bourbon, Harrison, Fleming, Lewis, Nicholas and Robertson counties.
