Two men in balaclavas broke into a house and demanded money, in Fallowfield. At about 6.30pm on Saturday 20 December 2014 a woman and her 12-year-old son were at home on Aston Avenue, in Fallowfield. The woman was asleep and the boy was in his bedroom when he heard ball hit the window and a disturbance outside, before the burglar alarm went off. The boy rang his brothers who said they would come home. About twenty minutes later there was a loud bang on the front door and the boy heard footsteps downstairs. Suddenly, two men went into his bedroom and demanded to know where the money was. The boy, still on the phone to his brother, and shouted for help but one of the men grabbed his arm in an attempt to get the phone. Hearing this, the boy’s mother awoke and went to see what was happening. The offenders ran downstairs and seeing that the boy’s brothers had arrived home, they turned round and fled through the back door. The brothers chased the offenders but lost sight of them near Princess Road. The first man is described as white, tall, in his 20s, with stubble, and was wearing a dark top. The second man is described as being tall, of medium build, has a dark-skin tone, older than the first man, and spoke with a deep voice and a foreign-sounding accent. He was wearing a dark balaclava and dark coat. Detective Sergeant Nicola Walton of South Manchester division said: “Thankfully the boy was not hurt, but it was a terrifying ordeal for a young boy and he was very distressed. “If you believe you saw men matching the above description in the area at the time, or have any information, please contact police on the numbers below.” Anyone with information should call police on 0161 856 4408 or the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
