Two new beginnings: I saw the otolaryngologist at the request of my aforementioned new voice teacher. The doctor re-established the fact that there is NO damage to the vocal cords themselves, and was able to show me the same! (Imagine my relief!...) She also referred me to a speech therapist who specializes in working with professional singers. Second,... as of today, my mother will be living in Southern California, nearer to my brothers and sister. As the oldest child, eldest daughter, and nearest relative of an elderly and increasingly frail Black woman, Ive pretty much been on call for several years. As of today, Im almost entirely relieved of my duties! Time for me to get my life back the way *I* want it...
