Two of our alumni, Clarissa and Adam, gave a talk on the evening - TopicsExpress

Two of our alumni, Clarissa and Adam, gave a talk on the evening of Saturday 9th August to an audience of eager current GradMed students. The graduates shared their personal experiences, periods of trial and tribulation and overall amazing success in GAMSAT, the interview process and their journey through medical school, and gave helpful advice to our aspiring doctors. The students found this to be a worthwhile, interesting and inspiring event that had the power to instil confidence into those who were feeling nervy, panicked or unsure when contemplating their future in the medical profession. Here are just a few of the highlights of the talk that really stood out for us: • One of Clarissa’s top tips for passing the GAMSAT was to ‘be strategic’. Therefore, use your reading time to select questions you can answer quickly, so as to get as many marks as you can straight away. • Adam reminded the students that the guideline which sets the standards for all UK medical schools, ‘Tomorrow’s Doctors’, truly is essential reading. • A reassuring piece of advice came from Clarissa, who told students that you are NOT required to be a Doctor or know as much as a Doctor when in your first year of medical school. The key is to try only to be a good medical student! Our alumni are now due to start their final year at St George’s University. After coming all this way, they both stressed how GradMed’s courses were invaluable for preparing them for the great challenge that is medical school, and how the GradMed course materials still continue to guide them in their studies to this day.
