Two tenets of modern human existence in the West: 1) Infantilization 2) Ignorance --- most people do not know what they are doing or why they do it. Asking them what they are doing is a useful exercise to reveal what they THINK they are doing, but one must not assume that people know what they are doing. Thats an element of conventional wisdom that I claim is wrong. We humans live within social systems that control our thoughts, ideas, beliefs, and opinions. Human social systems possess power dynamics, structures of power, that are taboo to investigate in the US (for reasons not revealed here). Other social systems contain overt power relations that are justified with stories accepted by everyone. Culture is propaganda. Every culture is loaded with ideological messages everywhere. Much fraud where the individual has transcended ignorance. Culture is not innocent, nor is it benign.
