Two things. One time I was sitting in the street smoking and this old guy comes up and says to me that he needs a lighter. He is old. kindly enough. He has one of those push carts that old people seemed overjoyed to fill with stuff. It looks like a caravan filled to the top with things in case he needs to sleep away from home or build a ship or make a cup of tea. He has a hospital bracelet on his wrist. I say he can keep my lighter and ask if he has been in hospital. Yeah, I been in the city , you seen any mob around here today. I say nah not today. He says he lives in a pensioner housing complex and everyone there has a dog or a cat. I say I love dogs. He says he wants a small one. I touch his hand and say bet if ya look in the herald you might find a free one. He likes this idea. In his trolley he has a big didgeridoo and he says he had been busking on high street. I say cool man how long you been playing that fella? He says he cant play. We both belly laugh. I get up to leave and say I will pray for him to find a dog. He says God bless you. I dont know why because I am not religious really but I did pray for him.
