Two things that I have hated all my life are dishonesty and arrogance. To me the NFL is exhibiting both trying to defend what the refs did to the Lions yesterday, as well as the sports commentators and self appointed experts who are jumping on their band wagon. They show us the replay of what happened and then tell us that what we see is not what really happened. One former ref even went so as to say (as the video was showing Petigrew reaching back for the ball) that it was not interference because the receiver was not reaching back for the ball. They also said that it was not interference because he was moving away from the ball. Last time I checked if someone was running down field on a pass pattern they needed to be going away from where the ball was coming from. So to me they are being dishonest about what happened and believe that we are stupid enough to just take their word for it, and arrogant enough not to care. Now some may say that I am making too much out of something that happened in a football game, that it doesnt really mean that much. But it does to me. I am passionate about sports, I have been all my life. Sports, football in particular, was one of the few things my Dad and I could do and enjoy together. He always taught me to play hard, to respect your opponent and to respect the game. I see very little of that in pro sports anymore, and the Lions game is just one more sad example. These are people paid untold millions of dollars to play a game that we all love, but are so misguided and arrogant that they think they can do whatever they want regardless of how it effects anyone else. Kinda sounds like our Government too, doesnt it?
