Two very good friends, Jerry & Dar Lyn Cassity and Ernie & Barbara Rowe planted an Oak sapling and a Weeping Willow in memory of our son Landon Laird who went to meet God 5 years ago on July 9th. I want those two families to know that the trees are doing well despite my black thumb. In my struggle to keep the trees alive, I learned a little about death. On this 5th anniversary I would like to share some of what I have learned. The tree placed outside your room, Has grown straight and true. Its roots firmly planted, Beside the home we made for you. Storms have come and the wind has blown, But their limbs have with stood the test. The weak leaves blown away, The once fragile became the best. The tree twists and strains against the trials, It bends and stretches and grows right on. We too have learned to bend without breaking, To somehow live with you gone. Just as we have cared for your tree, The Lord has taken care of us. Made our family tighter, stronger, He taught us again to trust. You are in every facet of our lives, Not a day goes by I dont see your face. I see your smile in the sunshine, Your laugh still fills this place. But I understand now that there will be a day, When your face again Ill see. In the presence of the Lord well bask. But until then, Ill be here taking care of the tree. Sending my love straight to Heaven. At times 5 years seem like yesterday, at times it seems like an eternity.
