Two weeks ago, the SacBee expressed its editorial opinion on the civil rights litigation against the SCUSD in a manner that did not reflect the actual facts of the case. In response, Civil Rights attorney Mark Merrin sets the record straight... "The issue before the court was not the need to close schools – but its selection of particular schools for closure... The effects of school closures upon the children who are uprooted and reassigned, especially those from low income families, are far reaching, devastating and well documented."
