Two years ago today, sweet Rachel went home. She left behind a legacy of courage, love, acceptance, kindness, vitality, spunk, independence, forgiveness, and pure joy in living. This world will never be the same without her, but it remains a better place because she was here among us. We all knew that each of her twenty-six years was a gift because of the heart anomalies with which she bravely battled from birth. At the same time, she was so energetic and eager to go and do and see that one could easily forget. Rachel was a peacemaker in a world that does not promote peace. She embraced life with a tenacity and fearlessness I will never forget. Please pray for the Smith/Chapman families today, especially Jenny, Steve, and Sydney. Today, T.J., Heather, Avery, and Thomas must say goodbye to their most faithful and loving friend, Tess, a beautiful yellow Labrador retriever who joined the family shortly after T.J. and Heather married ten years ago. Tess is Averys best friend and Heathers shadow. The first thing Thomas says when he wakes up every morning is Tesh. Tess was diagnosed with cancer recently, and her quality of life has become such that the family is letting her go today, after which Joe will help our son bury her on our land. Please pray for T. and his family today as they say their goodbyes and readjust. Please pray for Joe as he offers help and comfort to our boy. I try to appreciate every day the Lord grants me and those I love, but December 7 is just not my favorite.
