Tyler Blackett believes that he has become a better player because of his loan spells at Blackpool and Birmingham City. The 20-year-old played for Blackpool from November 2013 until January 2014, before moving to fellow Championship outfit Birmingham until the end of the 2013-14 season. Blackett’s performances did not exactly make the world sit up and take notice of him, but he learned from his experience and used that in pre-season to impress new United manager Louis van Gaal. Reflecting on the time spent away from Old Trafford last season, the young centre-back told Inside United: In terms of the games, I had some good and bad ones, but it opens your eyes. It makes you want to improve and it all helps you for the future. I think it has served me very well. Blackett has made six appearances in the Premier League so far this season and has a pass accuracy of 88%. He is not exactly guaranteed a place in defence but he has quality and determination, and will fight for his chance. [Source: Inside United]
