Tyler Russell To Serve As Camp Counselor At Manning Passing Academy STARKVILLE, Miss. – Surrounded by some of the best quarterbacks on the planet, Mississippi State senior quarterback Tyler Russell will participate as a counselor at the eighth annual Manning Passing Academy, to be held July 11-14 in Thibodaux, La. The Meridian, Miss., native is the first Bulldog to be invited to the camp since its inception. “I am honored to be asked by the Manning family to participate in the Manning Passing Academy,” Russell said. “I look forward to working with knowledgeable NFL coaches and elite NFL quarterbacks, and applying what I learn toward a successful senior season back in Starkville.” Russell will be joined by five former No. 1 overall picks in the NFL Draft, including three of the last four: Matthew Stafford (2009), Sam Bradford (2010) and Andrew Luck (2012). A member of the 2013 preseason Maxwell Award watch list, MSU’s senior signal caller broke 11 single-season school records as a junior, completing 231 passes for 2,897 yards and 24 touchdowns. The 6-4, 220-pounder currently stands as the school’s all-time leader in passing efficiency (136.38), and is only one passing touchdown away from the tying the school record for passing touchdowns (38), held by DerrickTaite (1993-96).
