Types of Trams: Four Motor Phoenix. Four Motor Phoenix - Courtesy Wikipedia & Brisbane Tramway Museum. Wiki: The last 8 FM trams were built from components salvaged from the Paddington tram depot fire and were painted light blue with phoenix emblems below the motormans windows, to symbolise that the trams had risen from the ashes of the fire. Museum: This Tram (554,) was the last to be built and was also the official last car to run on the tram system. No. 554 was one of eight built to partially replace the 65 trams lost in the Paddington depot fire in 1962. It incorporates salvaged bogies and other running gear recovered from the fire. Under the drivers window at each end is a phoenix motif to symbolise the car arising from the ashes of its predecessors and hence this and the other seven trams like 554 are known as Phoenix cars. Admin note: Unfortunately I didnt have an interior shot, but they are very modern. They are numbered 547 to 554, and for a while the most modern Trams in Australia were in a Museum! Image 1.
