Typhoon Utor has moved away from Hong Kong but Cathay Pacific has issued an advisory encouraging passengers to defer non-essential travel today (August 15). The airline said that although the weather situation was improving at Hong Kong International Airport, diversions or delays to some flights are still possible due to unstable weather and possible air traffic control restrictions. The airline is urging passengers to check their flight status for the latest information before departing for the airport. Passengers without confirmed bookings are advised not to go to the airport. Cathay Pacific will assist with alternative arrangements for affected passengers. SAA will also offer its customers with SAA tickets and who were affected by the Hong Kong flight cancellations on August 13 and 14 the following options: • Rebooking on the next available flight (same cabin/same booking class) subject to space • All date and flight change fees will be waived • This allowance will apply to South African Airways tickets only and not on any other airline tickets • The offer must be taken up and tickets re-issued through an SAA office by August 19 • If passengers are moving their flights to a later date, all such travel must commence on/before August 21. Hong Kong International Airport also advised that, due to the adverse weather conditions, the ferry between Hong Kong International Airport and Pearl River Delta was offering limited services and urged passengers to check with the operators of the ferry services should they have any queries.
