Typhoon targets China With a potentially strong impact anticipated from Typhoon Utor, Cathay Pacific has warned that flights in and out of Hong Kong International Airport will be disrupted and that operations at the airport might be suspended. Typhoon Utor is expected to come within 300 kilometres southwest of Hong Kong today, the Hong Kong Observatory has warned and it is described as one of the strongest typhoons globally this year Cathay Pacific said all non-essential travel to or from Hong Kong should be avoided until Thursday. The airline has issued a special ticket waiver to assist passengers with changing their travel plans. Passengers without confirmed bookings are advised not to come to the airport. Passengers are also recommended to check their flight status with their respective airline before travelling to the airport. According to the present forecast track, Utor will be closest to Hong Kong on Wednesday morning. Local winds will strengthen gradually overnight and on Wednesday.
