UAE shares end mixed Dubai: Dubai shares closed higher amid a big drop in trading volumes as investors retreat from the market ahead of the long Eid holidays next week. The total volume of shares traded plunged 66.52 per cent to 461.09 shares with the value dropping from Dh1.09 billion to Dh497.86 million. Of the 27 stocks traded, 20 advanced, five declined and two remained flat. The DFM General Index was up 0.57 per cent to 2793.61. In Abu Dhabi, the stock measure was marginally down, losing 0.11 per cent to end at 3846.12. The volume of shares traded also fell in the capital’s market, dropping to 116.58 million from Monday’s 209.17 million. The total turnover stood at Dh186.24 million, a decline of 46.93 per cent in the previous session. Among Dubai’s most active stocks in terms of the total turnover that ended in positive territory included Gulf Finance House rose 0.55 per cent to Dh0.544; Dubai Investments which increased 1.99 per cent to Dh2.05; Air Arabia, which gained 1.42 per cent to Dh1.42 and Arabtec, which closed 0.38 per cent higher to Dh2.62. Depa, the global interior contractor, was the biggest gainer, surging 7.69 per cent to $0.560, flowed by Shuaa Capital, which jumped 4.76 per cent to Dh0.880 and Deyaar, which was up 2.12 per cent to Dh0.674. In the capital, Dana Gas was in the red again, retreating 1.54 per cent to Dh0.64. Aldar Properties was up 0.76 per cent to Dh2.64 and National Bank of Abu Dhabi gained 1.17 per cent to Dh12.95. Asmak was the biggest loser, plummeting 9.95 per cent to Dh25.35. Rak Properties and Etisalat remained flat at Dh0.70 and Dh11.65 respectively.
