UCI Students…..make your spring break count and earn academic credit! Apply to be a member of the 2014 Costa Rica: Global Sustainability & Cultural Immersion Program. Participate in this alternative break and academic program focused on exploring global sustainability and cultural immersion issues in the Costa Rican rainforest! Stay on an organic farm, learn about sustainability practices, engage in community service, and participate in a homestay. Travel with other UCI students on a coordinated program engaging in local community life and the environment. This is an ideal experience for anyone who enjoys the outdoors, wants an intense but fun experience abroad and is looking to earn academic credit while conducting research. Costa Rica Program Requirements • You must fill out the application by Friday, November 1st at 12pm (noon) Applications are only available online: sites.uci.edu/costaricaprogram Please read all of the program information on the website and fill out the application thoroughly and concisely. Your answers will be used to help determine if you receive an interview for the program. • Total Program Cost: $1500 • A non-refundable deposit of $300 is due during your interview to hold your space. If you are not selected as one of the participants, the $300 deposit will be returned to you. If you are selected, the deposit is non-refundable. Some scholarships and payment plans may be available, so don’t let funding stop you from applying. • You must be a UCI student in good standing with the University. • You must be able to enroll in the winter and spring classes which meet every Thursday from 3:30-5pm and be available to travel to Costa Rica the entire spring break (March 21-30, 2014).
