UFC: Ultimate Fighting Championship President Dana White has stated the intention of the brand in regards to how they will handle interim championships in the future. Specifically, the intention to reduce the amount of time a fighter labeled as "interim" champ will keep that label while waiting for the reigning champion to return. Stemming off the heels of Renan Barão and Dominick Cruz, it seems Dana feels the same as many fans in that 2 years of time waiting for a champion to heal is just too long. While not guaranteed to happen or given a specific date of implementation, expect this new rule to come into play right around the time Dominick Cruz announces his return to full training sessions and return to fight preparation to face Barao.
