ULTIMATE SACRIFICE: Ashley Bridges was ten weeks pregnant when she learned she had bone cancer, and the life-saving therapy that would stop the cancer would require one thing: aborting the fetus. “There’s no way I could kill a healthy baby because I’m sick,” the mother told CBS. During her third trimester, doctors discovered the cancer had spread as predicted. “That’s basically when they told me that it was terminal,” she said. She and her fiance, in the U.S. military, say theyve never second guessed their decision as she now goes through a last-ditch effort to try to stop the disease, to hold onto whatever moments she can with her newborn and older son.
