UN, US urged to intervene for Kashmir settlement Hurriyet leaders including Shabbir Ahmad Shah have called upon the United Nations, the United Nations and other world powers to intervene for settlement of the Kashmir dispute as per Kashmiris’ aspirations and inflow of international aid to the flood-stricken people of the territory. The Hurriyet Conference Jammu and Kashmir leader and chairman Democratic Freedom Party Shabbir Ahmad Shah during his visit to different areas of Sopore along with a team, termed the policy adopted by India with regard to tackling post-flood situation in Kashmir as aggressive and unsympathetic. He said that the Modi-led government was making Kashmiris scapegoat to win the sympathies of Hindu extremists in upcomeing elections in some Indian states. Meanwhile, APHC leader, Zafar Akbar Butt during a workers’ meeting at his office in Srinagar criticized the Indian government for not allowing international aid inside the flood-hit Kashmir. Mohammad Yousuf Naqash, the Chairman of Islamic Political Party in a statement castigated India for using brute force to curb the legitimate voice of freedom and escalating tension on borders. He said that India would not succeed in crushing the right to self-determination movement by oppressing people in Kashmir.
