UNDERSTANDING ADDICTION CONTINUED: Another personal message about addiction from a response from my post: I just dont agree about peoples ignorance and unwarranted judgmental behaviors towards the problems and or problems: Its like being diabetic and your body needs it like a diabetics needs sugar. I have never experienced that Thank God and to anyones point that its someones fault for trying it in the first place, who hasnt, I mean really come on and lets be real. I guarantee the people that make that statement tried it too. ML It is hell and back and I one day will write a book on my journey that Im still battling in certain aspects of my life...and it will be one of the top best sellers...no doubt. I dont care who knows-I suffered a terrible addiction and you are completely 100% when you state that the addiction not only demoralizes the person, but also affects the entire family unit as well as everyone that loves the addict. And they cannot help. The addict will get help when they are ready...and nothing can make that happen-a child, a partner, family, nothing. When you are sick, the best way to describe it is you are a slave in your own body and you cant get out and when you try, the pain (not only physical which in fact is the easiest even tho you wanna die when you actually agree to endure the pain), but the mental/emotional aspects that are associated with addiction are even more complex and difficult than you can even imagine. And each time you try and want to succeed more than anything you want in your life, you need to realize that the world doesnt stop just because you are getting better-they actually put pressure on you and remind you of how bad you were and basically welcome you to the real world as if you wake up one day and chose to live your life @ the devils mercy when you have the world by the balls-beauty inside and out, extremely intelligent, good personality, caring, giving, loving....then you find ur unable to look @ urself in the mirror and ur emotionally and spiritually bankrupt, youve alienated everyone in your life so that they cannot interfere with your using....and there comes a point when you shoot that bag...but before you do, youre driving 160mph down the highway to pick it up, hoping that you dont live to make it to the dealer, hysterically crying the entire time because, you cannot stop. Its a terrible existence and it only ends 3 ways, jails...institutions...and death...and Ive pretty much faced all 3, but usually I would just end up miserable. It truly is suffering and if you can make it to the other side, it means youve gotten to live 2 lives-something no one else gets to do. And people judge but its not their fault-theyre judge mental of what theyre scared of or lack knowledge of and simply cant explain or imagine-its justifiable ignorance. I could go on, but Ill save it for my book :)))
