UNION UPDATE: JPD NEWS RELEASE Jackson police are investigating the threat of a bomb and shooting at Union University in Jackson. At 8:39 a.m. Friday, police received a call from Union University after someone had found a note in a school building. The note indicated that there was a bomb inside the school and that there could be a shooting. At the advice of police, Union officials took precautions and evacuated students and staff to ensure their safety. Officers are presently on campus searching buildings. Investigators are interviewing witnesses and processing the scene where the note was left. A follow-up briefing is scheduled for 1 p.m. at the Mulligans parking lot location.
