UNPOPULAR OPINION INCOMING: Please read my whole statement before jumping to an assumption. Suicide is the single-most selfish act a person can commit. It is a declaration that I believe theres nothing good beside (or better than) myself. It is a statement that MY needs are more important than any of the rest of yours. It is a disgraceful act of abandonment, a slap in the face to anyone loved or loved by the afflicted. Yes, I said afflicted, but I dont mean it in the sense that it is *strictly* a disease. Diseases kill people. The coroners report on a suicide victim is not Depression. Suicides are self murder, completely willed by its victim. There is a choice in every situation. Another thing, when we declare that someone is finally free, after they commit suicide we are only stating that we acknowledge that we are guilty of not reaching them and showing them the joy and goodness that exists in this world. I respect life. I will show no respect *in death* if there was a choice to end it. I do grieve that Robin Williams chose to end it - but dont confuse grief for a blessing. I grieve because for someone who was so great at showing people joy, he wasnt able to overcome his own selfishness for the sake of those who loved him. If someone you know is battling with feelings of suicide, please do everything in your power to show them your love. If you are battling with thoughts of suicide, TELL SOMEONE. ANYONE. Tell someone, and give us a chance to show you that we are meant for life. Maybe Im not the greatest at it, but I know that I can do it because I believe that life is greatest when loved and NOBODY is unloved.
