UNTILL TUESDAY One day lately I was out in a coffee shop - TopicsExpress

UNTILL TUESDAY One day lately I was out in a coffee shop with my service dog “Trixie” and a older lady came up to me and handed me some kind of a gift all wrapped up. She said she has been noticing me for some time and knew I was a veteran and had a service dog for PTSD. I unwrapped the gift and it was a book titled “Until Tuesday” about a wounded Iraq veteran with PTSD and a TBI (traumatic brain injury) I started reading this book and could not put it down. This is not only a book about a war hero who got a service dog, it is much more in my opinion. It is about mental health suffering and finding hope, that is what it is all about is finding hope. I highly recommend this book, not only to veterans, but all people who are suffering. This book will make you cry, laugh, and most of all appreciative of the little things in life. I have included a short summery I found on the book and a web link to hear more on this inspirational story. Enjoy reading, take care and God bless. until-tuesday/ Captain Luis Carlos Montalván is a 17-year veteran of the U.S. Army, including multiple combat tours in Iraq. He was decorated with numerous awards including two Bronze Stars, the Purple Heart, the Army Commendation Medal for Valor, and the Combat Action Badge. After returning home from combat, the pressures of his physical injuries, agoraphobia, and crippling Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) proved more than he could endure. Haunted by images of war, he found himself unable to climb a simple flight of stairs or ride the subway without intense pain and difficulty, and wondered if he would ever recover. That all changed after he met Tuesday, a golden retriever trained to be a service dog. Tuesday lived among prisoners and in a home for troubled boys, but although his comforting presence helped many people, the rigorous training and separation anxiety he endured when passed from one trainer to the next caused him significant emotional and behavioral problems But when Luis and Tuesday were placed with each other, both their lives were transformed forever. Captain Montalvan documented his relationship with Tuesday in the NY Times bestselling book Until Tuesday, A Wounded Warrior and the Golden Retriever Who Saved Him. The book received much critical and public acclaim, and Captain Montalvan received a number of literary awards. A major motion picture about their relationship is currently in production as well.
