** UPDATE- Patty had her balloon valvuloplasy surgery this morning. The doctors were up all night- especially the anesthesiologist team- trying to formulate the right amount for a dog in such severe heat failure. Well...... the AMAZING NEWS is that PATTY IS A FIGHTER...... The doctors were not even sure if she would make it through the surgery.. well not only did she make it, she made it with flying colors!!!!! There were 15 vets in the room during the procedure. Since Patty is in severe heart failure, this surgery was VERY RISKY for her. The odds were stacked against her. We received the call from the head of the cardiology department today while we were in route from NYC to Philly to see her. We burst into tears... tears of complete joy- The doctors and surgeons were so pleased with how Patty did during surgery. We were able to do a quick visit- we did not want her to get too excited right after such a big procedure- Patty can now have a good quality of life- yes, she still has a bad valve, but this stent will help her a lot. This has been a complete emotional roller coaster for us here. We have to give a HUGE THANK YOU to so many people who have fought for Patty since the start- first her mom Laura- no words, just hugs. She has been by her side since day 1- Laura you are AMAZING. We have to say that we have never been so impressed with a hospital as we have been with the University of Pennsylvania Vet Hospital. This is the best of the best. The cardio team and every single vet and resident- just AMAZING!!!!!! A huge thanks to Kelcy and Denise- our amazing volunteers who rushed Patty 2 hours to UPENN in the middle of the night on Thursday.... and most of all Pattys angel Marie- Marie, you are a true angel. You have so much going on in your own life, and put it all aside for this beautiful baby girl- Marie without you, this could not be possible- Love all of you lots. To Lindsey- Shellys mom for directing us to UPENN- Hugs UPENN - ROCKS!!! Patty we love you more than words.. we will be there Monday to scoop you up and take you home- AVA your sister- misses you, and sassy the cat...... Just such an emotional day filled with JOY!!!!
