UPDATE: 2 Dead 6 Injured in San Mateo SamTrans Accident By Candice Naranjo Fri Sep 26th, 2014 1:24pm America/Los_Angeles RELATED COVERAGE SAMTRANS SAN MATEO SAN MATEO — A van collided head-on with a San Mateo County Transit District bus this afternoon in San Mateo, killing one of the van’s passengers and injuring six other people, police and SamTrans officials said. The collision was reported at about 12:45 p.m. near South El Camino Real and 12th Avenue. One of the van’s passengers died and the driver was taken to a hospital in critical condition, according to police. SamTrans spokeswoman Jayme Ackemann said that five other people were taken to a hospital but she did not immediately know how many were bus passengers. Police said at least three people on board the bus were injured but their injuries are not considered life-threatening. Northbound South El Camino Real is closed from Ninth to 12th Avenue and two southbound lanes are also closed in the area, police said.
