UPDATE: 8/21/14 Cherokee was doing pretty good today, I think he is a bit less sore as he was picking his front feet up slightly to walk out of his stall for a little grazing and the dreaded wound washing. he actually flexed his joints some. (this is good). Baby steps and thats just what he does. I know hes beginning to feel like a pin cushion but we have to keep the antibiotics going strong for 10 days. We have wormed him and hes received a tetanus anti-toxin injection and of course Bute daily. Flies are such a big issue right now as we have to leave these wounds uncovered as per Dr. Mikes instructions. And as he warned the new topical spray medicine is making the wounds look awful as the old damaged skin is falling off. Keeping him clean and flies off is continual. This is comparable to a bad burn such as a 3rd degree, but with deep wounds. He is being such a good boy.
