UPDATE FROM THE CITY: City officials have gathered at the Emergency Operations Centre and are creating a course of action with the safety of all Lethbridge residents in mind. Fire, police, planners, water and waste water operations, Mayor Spearman and the City Manager are among the officials in the room. We are also working closely with Lethbridge County. The City of Lethbridge has NOT declared a State of Local Emergency, but are monitoring the situation closely. Based on projections, we are expecting the river to peak late Wednesday or early Thursday. We are taking precautionary measures to protect our City infrastructure including the Water and Waste Water Treatment Plants, the Nature Centre and Fort Whoop-Up. We are advising residents to please stay away from river banks. The Oldman River is under flood watch and it is not safe to be in or around the river. Bridge Valley Campground has been asked to evacuate by noon tomorrow ( June 18, 2014.) Clogged catch basins or other residential flooding concerns can be directed to our 24 hour Emergency Public Operations line at 403-320-3850.
