****UPDATE**** Good morning everyone! Due to some technical difficulties I was unable to make my post last night, but I am back in action this morning! SO....here we go! THURSDAY: Dave had therapy today and he also had a series of x-rays! The x-rays all looked GREAT! There is not all that much to relay to all of you about Thursday, but that it was an incredibly hard and frustrating day for Dave and Erin! The impact of all of these events were weighing hard on Dave and his spirits have been a little low! PLEASE, please (if you have the time) drop in and see Dave and Erin...it will surely be a bright light on those dark days that inevitably will occur in the coming days and months! One other thing to mention about Thursday...a HUGE shoutout for Sean Goss, fellow Marine and brother, drove all the way from Alabama to have a slumber party with Dave. He spent Thursday night with Dave and left Friday afternoon. This was so special and a big, big deal! Thank you so much for your kindness Sean!! FRIDAY: Dave had therapy again today. He was able to sit on the edge of the bed, and he did a lot of the work by himself. He also used an easy slide board to get to the bedside commode. Dave has been able to move his legs a lot more. He got into the wheelchair again today (for about an hour) and Erin took him outside for some fresh air and then they stopped at the cafeteria for some VitaminWater! The doctor was in today to check on Dave and to inspect the skin grafts. This was EXTREMELY painful for Dave and he had morphine to get through it. They removed the wound vac and determined that the grafts looked very good! The doctor said that Dave is ready to move to CarePartners. SO, as of this morning (Saturday) at 10 a.m. Dave will be checking out of Mission Memorial and is off to CarePartners rehab facility! YAY!!! A note that is too important to be overlooked...when Dave was in the wheelchair today, Chloe saw her daddy up out of bed for the first time!! This is very important, as it reinforces that daddy is getting better everyday!!! All of these important activities were capped off with a visit from Julia, that used to work with Dave, and then Dan and Katie arrived! When Dan arrived Dave was ecstatic to see him and also very emotional at seeing his brother!! Dan and Katie stayed with Dave for the night and all parties involved were thrilled! All in all, the past two days have been very eventful! Dave is improving by leaps and bounds each and every day! I will be posting information about where to find Dave at CarePartners later on today!! In the meantime, dont forget to stop at the benefit for Dave and Erin at Myers Motorcycles this afternoon!!! They have some AWESOME goodies up for prizes! It is sure to be a FABULOUS time... Dave will even attend via Skype!! Please attend and show your support, if you can!! And above all, PLEASE keep those positive thoughts and well wishes flowing!!!
