UPDATE ON CATS IN REEDS SPRING, Read on to find out the latest news! Springfield, MO - C.A.R.E. Animal Rescue was disturbed to learn about the letter sent to residents in the White Eagle Woods Mobile Home Park. This letter was to inform them that on October 1st, an “all out assault” would commence on the stray cats living near the property. The letter also stated that if the stray cats were not gone rent would increase. Residents found feeding the stray cats were threatened with immediate eviction. The letter stated that residents could “help” by setting out a bowl of antifreeze for the cats. UPDATE as of Sept 30th 2014 : We are happy to report there are a much smaller number of cats at the White Eagle Woods Mobile Home Park than was originally believed. Most of these cats appear to be friendly and not feral. The Branson Tri-Lakes Humane Society graciously agreed to accept all friendly adoptable cats into their adoption program. We would like to thank the staff and volunteers at Branson Tri-Lakes Humane Society in Reed Springs who have spent time trapping or otherwise rounding up at least 20 cats from this location so far. All of the cats found at this time appear to be adoptable, not feral and have been accepted into the Tri-Lakes Humane Society. As trapping continues our doors remain open for all feral cats at that location. Thanks to public generosity C.A.R.E. has raised nearly $800 to provide for lifetime care of the cats. If no feral cats are found, or otherwise turned over to C.A.R.E., all proceeds raised by C.A.R.E. for these specific cats will be transferred to the Branson Tri-Lakes Humane Society in Reeds Springs for the cats in their care. A huge thank you goes out to everyone who has shown an interest in helping these cats!
