UPDATE ON MONIES RAISED: 1. ZIM TRUST Excerpt from a letter a few days ago from spokesperson for the trust, Tony Passaportis: Dear All, it was thrilling to see David and Mary-Anne yesterday, to speak to them and to see how remarkably well they are both doing. The purpose of this update is to advise those who have given to the Trust, and potential donors, of the position with funds received and David and Mary Anne’s progress. To date the following amount has been contributed to the Zimbabwe Trust - $23 117 Where payment is accompanied by an email to me, which is often the case, I acknowledge the payment immediately with grateful thanks. These monies have already been a great help in meeting some of the early medical and welfare expenses. The balance is at $18593 and we are drawing off $2 000 per month to provide for the family’s day-to-day living expenses. A reconciliation of the Zim Honey & Blanckenberg trust account is available to donors who wish to see it, if so please contact me, my contact details in the About section of the FB page.([email protected]) David and Mary Anne are recovering well from their injuries, but David in particular has a very long and difficult road ahead of him. He has been told that it will take at least 8 months for the swelling of his brain to subside before the next phase of surgery can take place and a protective metal plate fitted in his head. David and Mary Anne’s faith, spirit and resolve are remarkable. The physical and psychological rehabilitation of the family will take considerable time and further resources will be required, particularly bearing in mind that David and Mary-Anne will not be able to work until they are fully recovered. Warm regards TONY PASSAPORTIS Trustee 2. OTHER FUNDS: These are the balances of the other accounts set up, checked approx. weekly: SOUTH AFRICA - ZAR 104 666 AUSTRALIA - $4 087 UK - £1 615 An alarm system has been installed in Dave’s parents’ Harare home, where Dave and Mary-Anne are staying to make them feel more secure. This was paid for by donations from suppliers and the West family church in Botswana. The farm is still running thanks to Dave’s dad Alan and the trusty staff. Whether the family will return to the farm is a decision that is some way off. Regarding these funds, and in light of the official mandate of the trust to only assist with the medical and immediate welfare costs of the family, they will not be used for farm running costs and wages, insurances and vehicle repairs etc. The amounts raised outside of the trust are being held in their respective accounts and will be drawn on as required under the guidance of the family and trustees. Records will be kept of how they will be used. Thank you for your continued support of this young family; financially, spiritually and emotionally. The love and kindness shown has been overwhelming and so appreciated. Our love in Christ to you all, Sarah Jane
