**UPDATE ON THE FOUND YORKSHIRE TERRIER DOG** Thank you to everyone who shared our post regarding the found Yorkshire Terrier Todd whose real name is Buster! The staff member has spoken to Salford City Council this morning; he was checked over by the dog warden and thankfully, theyve managed to find his chip, contacted his owners and he will be reunited with them today! Although the law requires dogs to wear and identification tag, these are often lost when a dog goes missing. Microchipping is an effective and secure way of permanently identifying a pet ensuring that your dog is returned to you quickly should it go missing or be stolen. The microchip is a small electronic device (about the size of grain of rice) which is implanted into the dogs skin. The microchip contains a unique number which can be read with a microchip reader. If a dog is microchipped, the dog wardens, vets and rescue centres are able to log into a secure database and obtain the details of the dogs owners. Microchipping costs between £5 to £20 and is offered by most vets. Many rescue centres run special events where they will offer reduced rates for microchipping.
