***UPDATE ON VAL*** First off I want to thank you all from the bottom of my heart for your kind words and support. I also want to specially thank those of you who have donated so far to help in my dire time of need and for sharing my fundraiser. It is hard to ask for help and embarrassing beyond explanation to have to do so and to show just how bad things are. But you all have helped me to see that there really are people out there who care and who understand and are willing to help. And that means more to me than words can say. At this time I am now home from the hospital which is a good thing but I am still not out of the woods yet. And I am still in need of help and special medical treatments treatments. The meningitis is gone however I am still left with brain swelling and an infection causing it. They are doing everything they can to help reduce both the symptoms and the pain associated with it as well as trying to cure it all together. I have several doctors appointments lined up over the next few weeks 3 of them being this week. I am still on bed rest and can not be left alone due to the fact that I keep having spells where I collapse from the pain and am having seizures. I will update you again when I have more information. I am asking for you to please continue sharing my fundraiser so that maybe someone out there can help. Even if it is just $5. Every little bit helps. The finances are going towards my medical expenses, making sure I dont lose my home, and getting my car fixed since I spend most of my time in it going back and fourth to the doctors and hospital as well as my sons special school which is over an hour away from my home and my car has no heat or defrosters and with winter coming my son and I risk getting frost bite because of it. I had a minor case of frost bite last winter die to it and I really dont want to risk having it again or something worse. ====================================================== Hello to all our GWPW fans, this is not a usual post but it’s become a very dire situation. Laurie (aka Val) The Creator and Head of GWPW was just sent back to the hospital with Meningitis. This has set her back a lot and each day is a fight with her health and hospital bills. I have been really sick and have alot of medical expenses that I have to pay out of pocket not to mention the gas I use to get to the doctor several times a week. Soon I have to drive over 3 hours away to see a specialist. I am on a very limited income of $720 a month. This barely covers the bills and I have had to rely on the help of my friends to cover the cost of household items and medications and other things for my self and my son. My son also has to attend a special school that is over an hour away due to the issues he has (He is on the autism spectrum). Winter in coming and my car has no heat or window defrosters so my son and I freeze when having to go back and forth from school and the doctor. My tires are also in pretty bad shape. But my income isnt enough to cover the cost to have the stuff repaired. My good friend Heather Nellis has created a special fundraiser for us to try and help get us back on our feet and to help us take care of the car and medical expenses along with our wish list linked to it. Now we know not everyone can donate money or even feel comfortable doing so. That is why in the fundraiser there are two wish list links. One for our pets and one for my son and I.
