UPDATE: Ok... I may have "lost my cool" there.... but it paid off.... The young woman with the bad tooth went to Dentistry 2000 this morning where she was quoted $95 (if memory serves) last week when she ran all over two counties asking for relief but was turned away at every stop (one place said she was too old at 26). When she got there this morning with the money donated, she was told it was $95 to be SEEN (not including xrays, pulling tooth, meds etc) and they couldnt see her til Thursday. Im not saying any of that is unexpected, unusual, etc.... Just saying she was led to believe if she came up with $95, they would ease her pain and she has been WEEKS suffering doing this cat and mouse game. So I talked to a friend who has helped me in the past with one of my "projects" who did excellent work for free for another person who could not find relief anywhere else. I hesitated to ask him up til this point because you just dont want to burn a bridge with someone like that.... dont want to over use him or make him feel like you are going to start sending him tons of folks looking for freebies..... But I was mad... so I swallered my pride and waited two hours for a free moment of his time. I told him that this time you awesome Facebook friends and I have donated funds to make this happen (understood not as much as it would normally cost... we only had $49.99 collected so far, I had added $40 and Redline Audio And Performance was patiently waiting to hear the damage to fill any void left over) The good news is.... she now has an appt first thing tomorrow morning! He is donating the xrays, labor, tooth extraction and intends to do all he safely can to give her relief as soon as possible! For those who DID donate, do not fear... I have a hunch there will still be prescriptions to be filled. If not, I will contact you and find out what you wish done with the money you gave. As much as I would LOVE to sing this mans praises (he so deserves it as eager as he was to help with this)..... I honor those who wish to remain anonymous. Until I find out his wishes, I will act as though he wishes to remain unknown. LAPTOP: Far as the laptop issue goes, no big rush, but nothing to update yet. NEW!!!!!!!! ANIMAL LOVERS!!! We have an awesome lady in Polk County who is well known as a safe haven for all animals discarded, unwanted, etc.... She takes them all in and tries to find them new forever homes.... and loves them dearly until a home can be found. She has built her own NO KILL shelter. She needs help! The storms have destroyed her barn/shelter that houses several animals and is unable to rebuild it. I know for a fact that there is a pig that would LOVE to see it rebuilt! I have limited details at this time, but can get more if interested in helping out by donating lumber, other materials, tools, labor or even just expert knowledge! ON A PERSONAL NOTE: WHILE I have your attention and am on the subject of giving and helping others... if any of you wish to purchase BASH AT THE BASEMENT tickets, I have them! Bash at The Basement is a weekend of bands that I had NOTHING to do with! The kids, staff and bands all worked together without my knowledge to put this together to raise money to help The Basement continue doing what it does. So.... if you want to help me help you and others... give it a thought to buying a ticket even if you dont intend to come out (though we all hope you will!). Those of you who have found the local and RAPIDLY rising band, Shotgun Fox... WE got em on this! Another way, less directly you can help is by helping one of my favorite Canadians, VAL HALLA in HER fundraiser where the funds raised will not ONLY help her as well as The Ultimate Basement... but it also supports a Rock n Roll school being built in Kabul, Afghanistan! pledgemusic/artists/valhalla How cool is THAT????? Ok, my poor typing finger is tired now.....
