UPDATE SF ANGEL ADONIS: 09/22/14. This is what we commonly refer to as a woo-hoo update!!!! Although cautiously optimistic, we just could not be more elated about his response to care. As most know, Adonis received his gift (graft) on Friday and all went well but over the weekend he continued to shake his body in response to what we assumed was the heavy moisture content of the overlay of his graft. It was recommended we keep the graft moist with saline. Due to the location of his wound and the difficulty of keeping a stable bandage, we removed the bandage and re-wrapped until such time he could be seen by his doctor. Well big boy kept shaking his wet bandage and once again dislodged his saline wrap. This morning, upon seeing his doctor, he decided that the best course would to not re-bandage since the bandage appeared to have created additional issues. His personality continues to bloom. He LOVES car rides, and we mean LOVE!!! He attempts to be the first one in and the last one out. Even if his end destination is the doctor, car rides are his thing. He has been extremely well behaved when meeting other dogs and attempts to engage them in play. We also know that this is not a true indication of his true personality and hope this will not change. His appetite is off the charts and Nutter Butters, his new vice, remains his favourite food choice. As we explained to him, man cannot live on Nutter Butters alone to which we are certain his response is, oh, come on mum, let me test this theory! He is able to defecate on his own. This morning we were absolutely elated to see him produce a very small amount of urine. He is straining in attempt to void his bladder which is the excellent news. This would indicate that he has regained his urge or knowledge that he needs to do so. This is the best possible news!!!!! The doctor believes that once his testosterone influence has abated, via neutering, he will be able to urinate without excessive effort. This could take an additional two to three weeks. His recovery to date allows us to believe that he will recover fully in this function.
