UPDATE: The BMRA has been very busy during the past week. Since there has been no time for updates, we will try to bring you up to speed with this entry. We will also post some pics that will cover the work done on the layout in the Construction album as well as pics from the trip in the TVRR album. We hope you enjoy the pics! 9-3-2013 meeting: The benchwork crew continued work on the plywood sub roadbed for the Mt. Union interchange. Since the track has been laid for the open house, the track crew has shifted focus to soldering the drop wires to the rails and the bus wire. The work has been completed to Huntingdon yard. The salvage crew...well, they continued to clean track! The electronics crew worked to set up the next power district in the layout system. 9-6-2013 work session: A few members of the BMRA assembled today to work on the benchwork. The crew was able to install and level the plywood sub roadbed all the way to the entrance to the EBT yard! They also cut, mounted and leveled the plywood sub roadbed and platform that will hold the Mapleton Sand Plant. 9-7-2013 trip: The BMRA returned to visit the Tuscarora Valley Railroad in Perry County during their Fall operating session. They have been gracious enough to extend an open invitation to our club. It was an incredibly beautiful day...perfect for our visit. We were able to ride the rails most of the day, sit in the shade to socialize with the TVRR members and watch as the gorgeous live steam locomotives performed just as the real locomotives did many years ago. For those of you who do not know, the TVRR is a 1.5" scale layout with approximately 1.25 miles of track! The gauge of the aluminum track is 7.5". The layout is basically a dog leg doubled over onto itself. There are several small bridges, a large yard, a shop area complete with turntable and a huge car barn for storage. We hope you enjoy the pics in the TVRR album! 9-8-2013 work session: The track crew assembled again today to work on soldering the track to the bus wires. The work is nearly complete now. Ideas were also discussed for building holders for the Digitrax throttles to later be attached to the fascia. The electronics crew investigated odd meter readings from both loops in the layout. A few issues were remedied which improved the situations but further investigation will be necessary. At this point, the readings are not enough to prevent operation during the open house but the electronics crew wants the issue remedied completely. In all, the BMRA has been extremely busy the past week. Thanks to everyone who contributed. We hope to see you all at the Open House!
