UPDATE: There has been little to no change. Mom is still on the ventilator and sedated. Her vitals are stable. She is responding to our voices by opening her eyes and turning toward us. She nods and shakes her head in response to questions and comments. She has passed the neuro exams by responding to all requests such as moving limbs, squeezing hands, etc. They placed a feeding tube Sat morning. She is still on steroids and swollen. She will have her third radiation treatment today...she is receiving these daily. The doctors said this will continue until the lymph nodes that are constricting her airway have shrunk dramatically. They are having to deliver low doses to prevent further swelling so it may take a little longer than usual...they are telling us anywhere from 2-6 weeks. They will be scoping and/or scanning her periodically to check the status. They have to keep her sedated because she is still fighting the tubes, iv and everything that is attached to her, lol. Shes a fighter! A temporary trach is still an option as well as a stent. We in are keeping both of these options in mind. After the lymph nodes have shrunk and she has been off the steroids for 2 weeks, we will resume with the original plans...the clinical trial/immunotherapy. Thank you all for your continued support. I appreciate all the emails, texts, calls, cards, comments, offers to help and especially, your prayers. Please know that I read them all and respond as quickly as possible. I am mentally and physically drained so it may take a little while for me to respond or it may not make sense when I do...please bear with me...and excuse all spelling and grammatical errors, too (lol). Please continue to remember her in your prayers. I love and appreciate you all! God bless!
